Privacy policy

This policy explains what information BroBattle ("we", "us") collects when you visit brobattle.com or play the game, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We designed BroBattle to collect as little as possible. If anything here is unclear, send us a message through our contact form.

The short version

• Your free account holds your email, a salted password hash, your birth year and the callsign you choose.
• We also keep your scores, gameplay telemetry and a hashed IP address.
• Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• Bro Sync is computed from in-game actions only. We never use outside data and never infer sensitive traits.
• There are no advertising trackers and we don't sell your information.

What we collect

Your account

Playing BroBattle requires a free account. When you sign up we collect your email address (to sign you in, verify your account, reset your password and send receipts), a password that we store only as a salted one-way hash, and your birth year, which we use to apply age-appropriate protections and keep adult and minor systems apart. Sign-up forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile to stop bots.

Callsign

The name you choose to display in the game. Your callsign may appear publicly on the leaderboard and to teammates. Please don't use your real full name or other personal details as a callsign.

Scores

Scores and basic battle results (mode, character, date) so we can run the leaderboard and track progression.

Gameplay telemetry

Information about what happens in a battle, such as positions, objectives, eliminations, revives, pings and play-again choices. We use it to keep battles fair, improve the game and compute Bro Sync. Bro Sync is calculated only from these in-game actions. It doesn't use your contacts, social accounts, location, voice recordings or any data from outside the game, and it doesn't attempt to infer sensitive traits such as age, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or health.

Hashed IP address

When you connect, our servers see your IP address. We store only a one-way hashed version to limit abuse, such as spam, cheating and repeated harassment after a ban. We don't use it to locate you.

Purchases

If you buy something in the store, Stripe processes the payment. We receive a record of what you bought, the amount, the date and the payment status so we can grant your items, show receipts and handle refunds. Card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers.

Support messages

When you contact us or file a report, we keep the message, your reply address and any details you include so we can help and follow up.

Newsletter

If you sign up for BroBattle news, we store your email address, the page you signed up on and the date, only to send game news. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe. Teen accounts that sign up get game news only, never offers.

Local storage on your device

The game stores settings and progress in your browser's local storage, and a service worker caches game files so the site loads faster and works offline. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings.

What we don't collect

• No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, pixels or SDKs.
• No precise location. BroBattle has no location sharing feature.
• No card numbers. Payments are processed by Stripe, never on our servers.

How we use information

To run the game and multiplayer sessions, show leaderboards, compute Bro Sync, prevent cheating and abuse, respond to reports, fix bugs and improve BroBattle. We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with advertisers.

Service providers

BroBattle runs on Cloudflare's network, which processes connection data to deliver the site and multiplayer sessions on our behalf and provides Turnstile bot protection. Stripe processes payments, and an email delivery provider sends account and receipt emails. Providers may only use the data to provide their service to us.

Retention

Leaderboard entries are kept while the leaderboard exists. Detailed gameplay telemetry is kept only as long as needed for fairness, safety and game improvement, and is then deleted or aggregated. Hashed IP records used for abuse prevention are kept for a limited period, longer where needed to enforce a ban.

Children

BroBattle keeps adult and minor systems separate with age-appropriate protections. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can change your callsign and manage your profile, purchases and sign-in sessions in your account, clear local data in your browser, and ask us to access, correct or delete information linked to you by messaging us through our contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashing for IP addresses and access controls on our systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the little data we hold.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, give notice on the site. See also our terms of service and safety approach.
