Two players. One rift. No room for error!
Duo Rifts are co-op missions designed for exactly two people. Each of you holds half of what it takes to survive, so the only way through is together!
Built for two, not squeezed down from four!
Most co-op games are balanced for a full team and simply get harder when only two of you show up. Duo Rifts start from the opposite end. Every encounter, puzzle and boss in a Duo Rift is designed around two players with asymmetric information and mechanics. You won't see the same things. You won't have the same tools. And the mission is tuned so that talking to each other is the most powerful weapon you have!
They're made for the people you most want to share an adventure with but can't always sit next to: a best friend who moved across the country, a sibling at college, a partner on a different time zone, a parent and their grown-up kid. Open a browser on any laptop or phone, send an invite, and you're in the same Battlescape within a minute!
Duo Rifts are action first. They're not a compatibility quiz and they'll never ask you personal questions. The bond comes from surviving something difficult together.

Duo Rift missions
Duo Rifts are rolling out in stages while BroBattle's in active development. These are the five mission types they're built from.
Navigator
One player sees the route through a collapsing Battlescape. The other sees the threats. Neither can see both. The navigator calls turns and jumps while the gunner calls out ambushes, and the rift keeps shifting under your feet!
Twin Towers
You're split across two towers in a separated vertical assault. Linked switches open the way for each other, so every floor you clear buys your partner a path forward, and every mistake leaves them stranded!
Last Oxygen
A shared resource drains while you fight. Every sprint, revive and ability burns from the same supply, which turns every decision into a quick negotiation under combat pressure.
Mirror Fire
You fight in two different dimensional phases of the same space. Each of you can only damage enemies in the other player's phase, so you've got to watch each other's backs, quite literally, across the seam!
Convoy Two
One drives, one runs the defenses. Midway through the mission the roles swap, and whoever was riding shotgun suddenly has to get you both through the worst stretch of road!
Your first rift
Grab one person, send one invite and drop in together! It's free in any modern browser.
How to start a Duo Rift
- Open BroBattle in your browser and choose Duo Rift.
- Send an invite to one person. Duo Rifts always require an explicit invitation and acceptance, so no one can be pulled into one without saying yes.
- Pick your mission and roles, then drop in. Either player can leave at any time.
Voice chat is never required. Duo Rifts include quick callouts and pings so you can coordinate by text or markers if you prefer, and muting is instant.
Why people play Duo Rifts
Because a shared close call is a better conversation starter than any icebreaker! Often the best part is the moment afterward: laughing about the switch one of you almost missed or the revive that happened with one bar of health left. When a mission ends, you get a short stat card of your best Bro Moment to keep or share.
If you and your duo partner keep coming back, you can start a crew together and invite others, or just keep your Tuesday-night rift tradition going. Read about how we keep two-player play safe on our safety page.
